Fire Protection Plan: A Comprehensive Approach

Last month we shared how we’re making fire protection a key objective for the proposed Safari Highlands Ranch (SHR) development. In addition to using twice the amount of fuel modification zones than typically required, we’re working diligently to incorporate many other site enhancements that are designed to facilitate emergency apparatus and personnel access throughout the site. Fire Protection Plan: Fuel Modification Zones Doubled

We’ve heard concern from nearby residents pertaining to fire and we assure you that the proposed Safari Highlands Ranch (SHR) development has been designed with fire protection as a key goal.

Last July, we presented the City of Escondido Fire Department with the SHR Fire Protection Plan (FPP). The purpose of the FPP is to evaluate the potential impacts resulting from wildland fire hazards and identify the measures necessary to mitigate those risks. In addition, our recommendations are consistent with the lessons learned from After Fire Action Reports from numerous fires occurring over the last 20 years, including the 2003, 2007 and 2010 San Diego County Fires.

SHR Hires Original School Architect

As we previously shared, a representative from the County Board of Education recommended that Safari Highlands Ranch (SHR) hire the architect who originally designed the school and campus to provide ideas and solutions for the safety of students as they arrive and depart each day.

As a result, our team recently hired the Principal and President of Lord Architecture Inc., Kathy Lord, to discuss some conceptual work on designing new improvements and revamping the pick-up and drop-off area at the school. Read More
